India’s first “Assessor Training Program” based on Ambulance Service Accreditation Standards was successfully conducted in Pune through the joint initiative of the Health Sector Skill Council and BVG India Limited.
The three-day training programme, held from May 13 to 15, witnessed participation from experts, trainers, and representatives from emergency medical services across the country.

The programme was organised with the objective of strengthening, standardizing, and making ambulance services across India more patient-centric and effective.
Through this initiative, a dedicated team of trained and certified assessors has been developed. These assessors will play a vital role in evaluating ambulance services across the country and ensuring high-quality emergency healthcare delivery, said release.
During the inaugural session, Dr. Prasad Rajhans attended as the chief guest. He emphasised the importance of quality, patient safety, and trained manpower in emergency healthcare services and highlighted the need for such structured training programs.
He expressed confidence that trained assessors would significantly enhance the standards of ambulance services in India.
On this occasion, Dr. Dnyaneshwar Shelke guided the participants and stressed the need for a practical, sensitive, and situation-based evaluation system in emergency medical services. He stated that trained assessors are crucial for quality assurance, continuous improvement, and efficient response management.
Throughout the three-day sessions, detailed guidance was provided on standardization in pre-hospital healthcare services, skill development, quality improvement, assessment processes, and capacity building. Participants expressed that this initiative would become a significant milestone in strengthening quality assurance mechanisms in India’s ambulance and emergency response systems.
